THE SPLASH SAILING DINGHY

The Splash was designed in 1988 by renouned Dutch naval architect, Jac de Ridder andis an ISAF recognized International Class yacht.

The class is strictly one design, which means that all existing boats are just as
competitive as new ones and can never be rendered obsolete by design changes. They are very well built and eight year old boats, which have been well used, do not show any signs of hull deterioration. Boats are competively priced when compared with other classes available today.

This is an ideal boat for young sailors weighing 50kg plus who have outgrown their other small sailing dinghys. Maximum weight for competitive sailing is about 80kg.
They are fun and exciting and, once sailed, regularly become the boat of choice.

New Zealand proudly and consistently has sailors qualifying for the Splash World
events and have won the individual and team titles many times. Splash sailing has proved to be a fantastic training ground for a number of sailors, including Blair Tuke, Andy Maloney and Michael Cate, who who have gone on to the highest levels of international competition in senior classes.

As a youth class the age limit is 19, but in 2011 the class was opened up to allow for an adult division at regattas. In the recent 2012 NZ Nationals, adults placed 1st and 3rd.
The Splash is also the most suitable boat available in New Zealand for women to sail.
